Intro class – tips and tricks for better grant writing

Sometimes, people ask me to do masterclasses, webinars and intro sessions for their communities about grant writing. And, I’m really happy to oblige!

Back in 2020, the fabulous Bek Lambert from Freelance Jungle asked me to have a chat to the community about grant writing. This was in the early days of the covid-19 pandemic, and many governments and other funding agencies were turning to grants to help get money into the economy.

The recording still lives on the Freelance Jungle website, and still has loads of relevant information for anyone looking at applying for a grant.

We spoke about a whole lot of different topics, including:

  • How to write a grant that meets the requirements without underselling or overselling your capabilities and intentions
  • Ways to make reading and understanding your grant easy on the assessor (and therefore more likely to be a successful application)
  • Why repetition, keywords and paying attention to the guidelines can make all the difference
  • What other supporting elements you may need to ensure your freelance grant writing endeavours are successful
  • Where to find grants, tenders and other forms of funding
  • Common mistakes and missteps applicants make during the grant writing process

You can access the recording here!
